Abstract: Unbalance of the neutral point voltage at DC-side and the dead-time effect of three-level SVG based on the NPC inverter topology is discussed. And a control strategy based on trigger pulse adjustment to balance the neutral point voltage and compensate the dead-time effect is proposed. In this way, neutral point voltage balancing and dead-time effect compensation can be achieved simultaneously using one single algorithm. This control strategy adopts the current space vector in the two-phase static coordinate system to judge the directions of the three-phase output current of the SVG with which to implement neutral point voltage balancing and dead-time effect compensation. At last, an 1140V 100kW SVG prototype is developed with DSP TMS320F28335. The results of the experiment verify the validity of the proposed control strategy.
